Bridging The Gap (BTG) is a nationally-recognized medical interpreting course which is provided by the Cross Cultural Health Care Program (CCHCP). The course is a 40-hour professional development program that prepares bilingual individuals to work as medical interpreters. Topics that will be covered in the training course include: 

• Basic interpreting skills
• Ethics
• Basic medical vocabulary
• How and when to act as a cultural broker
• An overview of the U.S. Health Care System
• Communication skills and critical thinking
• How and when to act as an advocate
• Professional development

In order to enroll in the course, participants will be required to pass language proficiency tests (written and verbal) in both English and the target language. These test will be provided by Birch Language Solutions. Participants must also complete a registration form.

A certificate of completion will be awarded to qualified graduates who successfully pass the final exam (given on the last day).
